SPIN EQUIPMENT

If you don't already have your own spin bike or bike trainer the following is a summary of everything you need to to buy to get started with FitRacers.  We don't sell these items but the links below will send you to the Amazon page where you can buy them.  Soon we'll have recommendations for treadmills and ellipticals once we vet the products.  Selecting the right equipment combination is easy and largely depends on your budget.  We recommend you purchase a sensor since it is fairly inexpensive however; remember that you can use your smart phone as a sensor and it works just as well.

Whichever bike/trainer or spin bike you decide on, just remember that you don't need to spend the extra money to purchase one with an integrated sensor.  FitRacers does not communicate with fitness equipment sensors (which is great since it's less money out of your pocket).  The sensor we recommend below will suffice.

ABOUT BICYCLES/BIKE TRAINERS
ABOUT STATIONARY SPIN BIKES

Bicycles mounted on bike trainers are convenient since you can use a bike you already own.  This is ideal for people with limited space in their homes that cannot store both a bicycle and a spin bike.  There is a variety of bike stands in the market and they generally differ in price based on how smooth and quiet they operate and other features they offer.

Stationary spin bikes offer more stability and permanence to your cycling experience.  Their stability makes them easier to mount and you can be more aggressive in your spinning.  There is a variety of spin bikes on the market and they generally differ in price based on how smooth they ride and the features they offer.

A bike stand is an economical choice and ideal for those that already have a bike and would like to mount it to be used with FitRacers.  We recommend the Scwhinn Magnetic Bike Trainer (model # 1031R).  This trainer offers magnetic resistance as you pedal to mimic riding conditions.  We also recommend the Garmin Bike Cadence Sensor (model # 010-12102-00).

SPIN BIKE/SENSOR

The advantage of a stationary spin bike is the stability it offers when mounting it in comparison to a bike trainer.  The Marcy Revolution Bike Cycle Trainer (model # XJ-3220) is an excellent spin bike for a moderate price.  We also recommend the Garmin Bike Cadence Sensor (model # 010-12102-00).

For a quieter, cycling experience, the Kinetic Road Machine (T-2200) is a good buy.  You'll get genuine real-road feel with their large fly wheel and fluid resistance unit and the added peace of mind from the industry's best warranty.  Kinetic is the only  bike trainer manufacturer we've found that offers an adapter for a child's bike.  We also recommend the Garmin Bike Cadence Sensor (model # 010-12102-00).
